Summary

The article of Almarabeh & Majdalawi focused on the effect of cloud-based systems implementation in e-commerce industry chain. It also indicated how cloud migration has participated positively in the expansion of SMEs e-commerce and other related enterprises. Authors of this article utilized (Akinyede, 2018) proposal to discuss a conceptual model for utilizing cloud services in e-commerce apps to overcome resource constraints and environmental costs.

This article also highlighted the main advantages of applying cloud services in term of cost saving, scalability, availability, mobility, and easy engagement to customers. In contrary, authors pointed out the main challenges of using cloud computing in e-commerce starting from security related issues like trust risks, data privacy and storage ending up with technical issues like connectivity and service standard issues.

Quality of the Research

The research objectives were clearly situated. Detailing the research objectives come as follows:

  • Identify e-commerce from different perspectives.

  • Highlight e-commerce four categories.

  • Show application of e-commerce in advertising, customer service, marketing, payment systems and orders delivery.

  • Identify cloud computing from different perspectives.

  • Indicate the three cloud service models.

  • Explain the significance of using cloud computing in e-commerce.

  • List and describe the benefits of using cloud services in e-commerce.

  • List and describe the risks of using cloud services in e-commerce.

  • The effect of using cloud computing on SMEs e-commerce.

  • The difference between traditional e-commerce and cloud-based e-commerce.

  • Present cloud-based e-commerce framework proposal.

Discussing "cloud computing of e-commerce" was interesting and significant because cloud technologies have already demonstrated their benefits and efficacy through empowering and enhancing online retail sites. The cloud migration in e-commerce proved its cost effectiveness in term of IT infrastructure and making business without incurring costs.

Additionally, cloud computing characterized by flexibility, reliability, and mobility. Generally, the global revenue for public cloud services is expected to show a leap from $153.5 billion in 2017 to $302.5 billion in 2021 at which Software as a Service (SaaS) formed the biggest share of the digital market place.

Obviously, the background research is lucid and relevant as authors leaned on forty-four references to discuss and debate their research, from which some references were used to set up a future framework plan for e-commerce industry chain, enterprises, and SMEs. Moreover, Almarabeh and Majdalawi maintained the copyright for their research and authorized Modern Applied Science journal for publishing.

I see this research original as it was written by the two authors who did the study. Also, the research originality is related to study question, purpose, method, and results were reported properly (University of North Florida, 2022).

In term of identifying ethical issues in "Cloud Computing of E-Commerce", (Jenn, N. C., 2006) presented five possible ethical issues at which were not tracked in this research. Based on his research criteria, this study was designed and adjusted well with no political, commercial or personal conflict. Another ethical sign in this research related to the way data were analyzed and disclosed appropriately, supported by several references. Last but not least, Modern Applied Science would not publish research that contain any plagiarism or authorship issues.

The Research Method

As a method, "Cloud computing of e-commerce" research is considered as a literature review at which authors were keen enough to attain the main revolutionary concepts of e-commerce, cloud computing, its service models, its benefits and risks, the revenue behind its usage and the way it works in e-commerce industry. Authors also conducted a 5 layers framework for applying cloud-based services in e-commerce systems that minimizes the duration and cost required for soft and hard wares implementation, minding regulatory and security issues of such platforms usage.

The research method seems adequately described, appropriate for the research objectives and firmly based on existed researches which would complement well the approach in this article. (Saleh, 2012), (Chi et al., 2021) and (Vijai & Nivetha, 2020) are some referenced researches published in different accredited journals proposed the same "Cloud Computing of E-Commerce" method, particularly the same detailed definitions of cloud computing, e-commerce and framework for implementing cloud services in e-commerce.

Authors did not cover statistical analysis to test research method. However, they relied on multiple existing researches to smoothly support their objectives and methodology using tables and figures in a systemic way to explain concepts of cloud computing, e-commerce and frameworks for using cloud services in e-commerce industry.

Worth saying, the conclusion was tailored well using focal data and findings. Such data was appointed to indicate the significance of implementing cloud-based services in e-commerce field and the way it became a necessary need to all e-commerce businesses.

Quality of Presentation

The research is well-tailored and firmly structured with sections and subsections. Based on standard literature review structure, it began with an abstract, introduction, defining the main concepts with subsection details, discussing objectives, suggesting framework and then smoothly ended up with a proper conclusion. What's more, the research objectives were stated clearly and authors variegated referencing sources.

The most common keywords were also pointed out including; cloud computing, e-commerce, ICT, Internet, and SMEs. Terminologies of cloud computing, cloud services and e-commerce were adequately defined and abbreviations were indicated well.

What's More?

There are some significant pillars that research did not address or in some way cover like data protection and cyber security challenges in e-commerce field.

This research is strongly relevant to Cloud Computing and mobile banking unit in the Information systems and digital transformation (ISaDT) module (Brooke, 2009). Most of the research topics are linked and covered in (ISaDT) module, including:

· The categories of e-commerce and types of its applications.

· Definition of cloud computing and its influence on e-commerce in general

· Models of cloud services

· Benefits and challenges of using cloud computing

· Cloud Computing based e-commerce Framework
